NPFL24: We Will Beat Rivers United In Umuahia Says Abia Warriors Asst. Coach, Igwe Madubuike

Ahead of their outstanding Nigeria premier football league match at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Wednesday against Rivers United, Abia warriors Assistant Coach, Igwe Madubuike said, the team is resolute on beating the former NPFL champions.

Madubuike made this known in a Pre-match interview on Tuesday. According to him, his players always rise to the occasion when they come up against big teams. 

“In a big game like this against Rivers United, our team produce positive result because they know they are more experienced than them, but that will not hinder them from winning Rivers United’’

“Yes we should expect the same result from the lads, I know we have prepared them, we’ve told them what to do, so we expect it to yield result’’.

“Nothing more than a win, we are going to win Rivers United, we are not doubting their ability because their spirit is very high knowing the team they are going to play and they are prepared to give us the victory come Wednesday”, he concluded.

Adding his taught, Abia warriors Captain, Augustine Njoku who highlighted the importance of playing at home said, called on the the fans to support them towards victory.

“I believe they have missed us and our game, come Wednesday we’re not going to give them anything short than victory, our position in the league table isn’t all that good, but the three points on Wednesday will boost the team higher in the league table”.

“we are working together, the coaches are putting everything together to make sure we are in good shape ahead of the game, it’s now left for us the players; I plead with our fans to come out in mass to support us and watch a good football and the Abia warriors that they have wished to watch”.

On their part, Rivers United, are looking forward to bounce back to wining ways after a narrow defeat against Sunshine Stars.

The Pride of Rivers suffered a 1-0 loss to the Owena Waves in Akure on Sunday.

Rivers United are now winless in their last four league games, and their hopes for a continental ticket are gradually fading away following the recent poor run of form.

Rivers United occupy 11th position on the NPFL table with 41 points.
