Ekiti United: A Club That Needs Governor Oyebanji Urgent Intervention

The past few weeks have seen Ekiti Utd come under the spotlight for the very wrong reasons, the worrying state of the team’s bus has taken over the internet, with pundits, fans and even people outside the country criticizing the reckless state of the team’s bus, with players lives at risk of accident.

Chisporting.com.ng who was at the UNEC Temporary Stadium to witness the club match day two encounter against Enugu based side, Coal City FC, in the Nigeira Nigeria National League (NNL) noticed that, the team bus was an eyesore and shouldn’t be on the road moving players from one venue to another.

Ekiti United, who’s without a club chairman or even a State Sports Commissioner, have come under increased scrutiny concerning the handling of the club affairs.

Reports has it that the players are being owed July salary. But trying to authenticate the allegation, by reaching the club’s secretary, Mr Deji Olowolafe proved abortive.

There were also claims that the money has been disbursed to the club’s account for the salaries of these players.

The team’s bus has brought so many mismanagement issues into the spotlight, with the club’s management which struggled to offset the hotel bills of the traveling entourage to their match day 2 encounter in Enugu against Coal City United FC.

Speaking to the Cordial Hotel management where the team lodged, it was gathered that the Ekiti state owned team left the hotel at about 11am on Sunday morning because of struggles to offset their bills.

It’s a obvious the situation of the club has turned disgraceful. And with Ekiti state sports commission bill being signed into law, it’s high time Gov. Biodun Oyebanji hold some people accountable.
