NPFL: Abia Warriors Pitch Not Suitable For NPFL Games – Fidelis Ilechukwu

Rangers International’s Coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu has frown at the playing surface of the Umuahia Township Stadium, home to NPFL side, Abia Warriors.

Ilechukwu disclosed his displeasure about the turf after his team 1-0 Oriental Derby lose to their neighbours on Sunday.

According to him, with the standard of the field, no league game should be considered to be played there.

“We don’t have to hold football games here, not even an academy football on this pitch, it does not worth it, but there is nothing we can do about it”.

“The pitch is not good to hold NPFL games, not for any reason. Abia state government should find a way to arrange this pitch so that everyone who plays here can express themselves, this is not because we lost the game, but playing live game here is not good” he added.

Speaking on the game, “This a game i believe that, with what we have, we were supposed to get something positive, am not happy to see Abia Warriors have that dominance”

He added, “we need to work out to create chances and finish them; thankfully, our goalkeeper is the best player in today’s game, but so far as the team is creating chances, i know goals will come, because we can’t put the players under any pressure”.

Center back, Collins Nwoburuoke was rightly placed to head home a sublime delivery by Sunday Megwo just inside the second minute of the encounter, as Abia Warriors continued on their perfect home winning streak and their second Oriental Derby win of the season at home.
