CAFCC: Imade Lone Goal Gives Bendel Insurance Slim Win Against ASO Chlef Of Algeria

Super striker, Imade Osarenkhoe scored the only goal as Nigeria side, Bendel Insurance defeated ASO Chlef of Algeria, 1-0, in the first leg of their CAF Confederations Cup preliminary round tie, in Benin City.

Played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Osarenkhoe’s first-half strike gave the Benin Arsenal a slim advantage going into the second leg.

Bendel Insurance, playing continental action for the first time in 18 years, took some time to settle into the encounter but ramped up the pressure and deservedly took the lead three minutes before the interval.

A floated free-kick bounced towards the back post where Osarenkhoe was waiting to bundle in despite losing his balance.

Insurance could not find the next gear in the second period but did enough to see out the game to preserve their slim victory.

In his post-match interview, Bendel Insurance head Coach, Monday Odigie said, “his team would work on their goal scoring before the return leg”.

He furthe praised his players effort to maintain the lead to the end.

The Benin Arsenals will have to do extra work to keep themselves in front when they visit the Algerian side to cross last hurdle of the first preliminary match of the continental engagements.

The second leg will take place at the Stade Mabrouki Salem in Algiers on August 26.
