BASKETBALL: D’Tigress Power Pass Mozambique To Qualify For Afrobasket Semi-finals

Reigning African Champions and Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigresses on Wednesday survived Mozambique and qualified for the semi-finals of the ongoing Afrobasket championship in Rwanda.

The Mozambicans who had sealed their way to the quarter-finals through a play-off against Cote d’Ivoire took an early lead, winning the first two quarters,18-16 and 15-13 to establish a four point lead in the first half at 33-29.

D’Tigress resumed the third quarter revitalized and turned the game around at 47 -39.

In the final quarter, Nigeria kept their momentum and secured a vital seven-point victory to progress to the competition’s semi-final.

Recall that, D’Tigress had qualified for the quarter-finals after finishing top of Group D with wins over the Democratic Republic of Congo and Egypt.

Nigeria will now face Host, Rwanda in the semi-finals, billed for Thursday (Today) by 5pm, while Senegal and Mali contest for the second semi-finals ticket at 8pm.
