NAIJASUPER8: Sporting Lagos Defeat Akwa United, Book Finals With Remo Stars

Newly promoted Nigerian Premier League side, Sporting Lagos has booked their place in the finals of the ongoing Naija Super 8 competition, defeating Akwa United 2-1 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

Sporting came from behind to inflict defeat on the former NPL champions with goals from Saturday Okon and Jonathan Alukwu.

Cyril Olisema had scored for Akwa United during half time after Sodiq Rilwan won a penalty.

Olisema thereafter, send the goalkeeper, Christian Nwoke the wrong way to put the Promise Keepers ahead.

The Lagos based side will now take on Remo Stars in what will be a South West Derby on Sunday’s final. The final will be a repeat of their group A contest were Sporting ran out 2-1 winners.

Remo Stars in the earlier game, defeated follow Nigerian Premier League side, Lobi stars 2-1 to seal their place in the finals of the competition.
