NPFL PLAY-OFFS: Enyimba, Remo Stars Settle For Draw

Enyimba International of Aba were held to a 2-2 draw by Remo Stars in the first game of the Nigeria premier Football League Championship Playoffs.

With both team struggling to gain the first Maximum point of the championship, the first half ended goalless as both teams missed opportunities that would have differentiated them in the first half.

At the resumption of the second half, the Aba elephants where the first to break the deadlock after Adiele Eriugo scored to put Enyimba ahead in the 59th.

Coming in as a substitute, Junior Lokosa strike from his first touch in the 79th minute level it 1-1 for Remo Stars.

Searching for the winning goal, Chukwuemeka Obioma converted a spot kick to restore Enyimba’s lead but denied the victory after Remo Stars captain Junior Nduka strike a dramatic free kick to make it 2-2 in the 90+4 minutes.

With both team still searching for their first win, Enyimba of Aba will next take on Lobi stars of Markudi by 2pm on Monday, while Remo Stars play Tittle holders, Rivers United by 4:30pm.

The competition which is played at the 10,000 capicity Onikan Stadium in Lagos will determine the winner of the 2022/2023 champions of the league season.

The standings of the playoffs will also determine which teams feature in CAF competitions for the 2023-24 season.
